First 2018 two-year-old bonuses paid out
4th Apr 2018
The Easter bank holiday weekend proved fruitful for connections of Plus 10 two-year-olds racing in Britain, three Plus 10 races took place at Newcastle, Bath and Musselburgh, and two bonuses were collected – providing a £10,000 boost in prize money for each of the winning connections.
At Newcastle, Snazzy, a filly by Kodiac, trained by Charlie Fellowes and owned by Highclere Racing, won comfortably on debut. Bred by Trevor Stewart and James Hanly, she was sold as a yearling for €40,000 at Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling sale.
On the turf at Musselburgh, Mayson Mac, beat his two rivals, scoring by two-and-a-half lengths in testing ground conditions. Bred by Bumble Mitchell, and sold for £27,000 as a yearling, the colt provided a quick return on investment for owner Evan Sutherland, who himself took home more than £11,000 in winning prize money.
More than 800 two-year-old and three-year-old races across Britain and Ireland will feature a bonus this year, the race programme can be found here.
