Three-year-old filly scoops bonus

Three-year-old filly, Marble Statue, trained by Amy Murphy, scored on just her second start at Lingfield Park on Monday, when winning the opening Class 5 maiden, taking home more than £14,000 for connections, thanks to the addition of a £10,000 Plus 10 bonus.

Always prominent, she kept on well in the final furlong and scored readily under jockey Tom Marquand, delighting owner Sam Hoskins, who said:

“I bought into the filly because she was a maiden and fully qualified for Plus 10, providing an attractive opportunity to win a maiden and recoup the majority of the purchase cost. Plus 10 is a fantastic scheme for fillies and when buying horses at sales I look out for the Plus 10 logo, it definitely influences my buying habits”

The daughter of Makfi was purchased by her Trainer Amy Murphy at Tattersalls December sale and provided a quick return on investment just three months later.

Amy commented: “I am delighted to have won a Plus 10 bonus with a filly that cost less than £20,000. Plus 10 plays a big part with both my race planning and also selecting which horses to buy at the sales. It’s a great initiative and a huge help with prize money levels.”

Owners are reminded that today is the last day to complete the final registration stage for 2016 born horses and make them eligible to win a £10,000 bonus as a two or three-year-old.
